Let’s Get to Know the “Knights of the Vine Order”

"Wine has taste, body, color, character, and a sense of freedom. And it is wine, more than anything else, that allows you to ‘let yourself go’—to become free, to do what you love: dance, sing…"

This is how the book Knights of the Vine Order begins — a publication released by GIG for its partners and friends.

Did you know about Ilia Chavchavadze’s connection to winemaking? Or who Katsia Adania was? Who was Emanuel Almandinger, and what beverage did he produce in Georgia? How did the Kipiani wine win the Grand Prix in Belgium? The famed wine and vineyards of the renowned Mukhran-Batoni family… All of this is part of the Georgian and global wine history brought together in this publication. The project introduces us to the people who served wine, vineyards, and vines — those who created new wine flavors and left their unique mark on the industry.

Unfortunately, the Soviet regime tried to erase their contribution. That is why this project was created — so we can know and remember the history.
