Sabado - Informal Education Center in Manglisi

Inspired by the Japanese saying, â€œThe best gift is the sharing of knowledge,” we believe in bringing this philosophy to life in Georgia - by sharing knowledge with others, and most importantly, with the next generation.

September 21, 2025, marks the official launch of Sabado. In Manglisi, where an old, dilapidated school once stood, a modern informal education center has now opened its doors, built to meet today’s educational standards. This initiative was made possible by the David Bezhuashvili Education Fund, with the support of its partners - GIG Holding and the European School.

What does "Sabado" mean? In Georgian, "Sabado" refers to a place where natural resources are extracted. While Georgia may not be rich in natural resources, we believe we possess something even more valuable - human potential. Our people are this country’s greatest wealth. This is where we aim to inspire and nurture the next generation of leaders.

Why Manglisi? "I was born here, and I graduated from this very school," says David Bezhuashvili, founder of the initiative. "I could have built a center like this anywhere, but I chose my own region." That’s why, from the very first day, Sabado’s doors have been open to local teenagers.

Why an Educational Center? We could have built a hotel — after all, Manglisi is a well-known resort area. But what our country needs most today, alongside skilled professionals, are leaders. That is why Sabado became a Leadership Academy.

Sabado is designed for teenagers aged 14 to 18 - a time in life when young people are standing at a crossroads, making key decisions about who they are and where they’re going. At this critical stage, the guidance of experienced, knowledgeable professionals is essential. That’s why Sabado is built around mentorship â€” with skilled mentors ready to share not only their knowledge, but their lived experience. How Does Sabado Teach? At Sabado, education goes beyond classrooms and lectures. Sabado is working on exciting programs and bringing in speakers who can truly inspire and resonate with teensd.

Sabado is equipped with the latest technology, including a STEM laboratory and a fully operational observatory. The center also features sports halls, rooms for discussion and communication, and even its own cinema. Everything here is designed to give teenagers the space and tools they need to discover themselves.
