New Prospective Projects
1. ,,CPower “Georgian Industrial Group” (GIG) will construct 300 MW coal-fired thermal power plant in Gardabani municipality. The commencement of the construction of the coal-fired thermal power plant at the alternative location was decided after the company considered the findings of geological and environmental studies. Based on the findings obtained, it has been deemed reasonable to build thermal power plant, the construction of which was originally planned in Tkibuli, in Gardabani municipality. It is important that the new energy facility will operate on the coal extracted in Tkibuli.
2. Development of Coal Mine: Under existing coal mining license in Tkibuli region, the company plans to reconstruct and develop mine, which will increase coal extraction volume up to 2 million tons per annum. Development will require investment of around 240 mln US dollars.
3. 280 MW Gas Turbine CCPP: The new 250-300 MW Gas combined cycle power plant (CCPP) project is planned to be built on our existing infrastructure in Gardabani. In October 2012 ENERCO (Engineering & Consulting GmbH) provided completed Feasibility Study for the project. Projected Investment equals to 220-240mln US dollars and the plant is expected to be constructed and commissioned within 24 months.
4. GIEC has an ambitious plan to increase hydro electricity generation capacity by 100 MW and in 2020 to reach its total capacity of 150 MW. A few potential locations for small and medium size HPPs construction have been selected and planning and feasibility studies have been initiated.
