David Bezhuashvili, the Founder of GIG Group, attended the signing of the first concession project in Ukraine - thecontract on the transfer of the port of Kherson to the foreign investors’ management.On June 26, the contract was signed between the Government of Ukraine and the Georgian-Swiss company LLC RISOIL-KHERSON in Kherson and the decision of the Competition Commission of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine of January 21, 2020 came into force. Under the contract, the Kherson Commercial Port was transferred to the management of LLC RISOIL-KHERSON for 30 years. The Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky attended the contract signing ceremony in Kherson. The Ukrainian president spoke out in support of the concession at the 2020 Davos Economic Forum, noting that it is an important milestone in new economic policies and legislative changes for the Ukrainian economy. These reforms has enabled the investor to manage strategic government facilities, which created completely new and different opportunities for investors and, foremost, for the Ukrainian economy.
It should be noted that the Government’s partners in the implementation of the first successful concession project in Ukraine are the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
Along with Ukrainian officials, the ceremony was attended by the founders of the winning investor company: David Bezhuashvili, founder of the Georgian Industrial Group, and representatives of the Swiss company RISOIL S.A.
The Government of Ukraine, due to the high public interest, presented the winning company to the public and the media a few months ago. Official Kiev noted that the competition process was fair and transparent. The main principle of selection became the trusted reputation of the winning investor and the best investment proposals and business experience presented by them.
In turn, the investor company presented a long-term strategy and plan for the development of the Kherson Commercial Port. The investor plans to invest 300 million hryvnias in the development of the port of Kherson and undertakes to arrange and develop the Kherson infrastructure.

LLC RISOIL-KHERSON, owned by Petrol Oil and Chemicals, an affiliate of the Georgian Industrial Group, and RISOIL S.A., a Swiss company was announced the winner of the tender held on the Kherson Commercial Seaport by the Competition Commission of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine, in early 2020.
