The Meeting of the Social Partnership Trilateral Commission of the Ministry of Labor, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia was conducted through the participation of the management of Georgian Industrial Group. The meeting was organized on the initiative of trade unions, which discussed the requirements presented by them. One of the main issues of the meeting was the problems and challenges in the Tkibuli shafts, the ways and means of their elimination as well as improvement of labor safety norms and granting of benefits to the employees. They also discussed the possibility of exempting miners for income tax and providing additional benefits.
At the meeting, Georgian Industrial Group informed the commission members about the activities conducted for the decrease of security risks in Tkibuli shaft, to the maximum extent. However, they noted that despite the measures taken, the disastrous consequences could not have been prevented. The company expressed its readiness to cooperate actively with the parties. The company is ready to acknowledge any decision, and thereafter it will be resolved, whether it will be possible for the Company to continue operation.
